đș Getting There & Getting Around
đ Whatâs the drive like to Big Bear?
Itâs a beautiful but winding mountain drive with curvy roads and some steep drop-offs.
Winter note:
- Weather can change quicklyâalways check the forecast before driving
- During snow season, chains must be carried at all times, even in 4WD vehicles
- When chains are required, youâll see roadside vendors who can install them for a fee
đ How do I get around if I donât want to drive?
The easiest way up the mountain is by car, but once you’re here:
- Thereâs a free local trolley with tons of stops around Big Bear (one is just a 2-minute walk from the cabin!)
- Rideshare apps like Uber/Lyft can be unreliable, but thereâs a great local taxi service we recommend with stellar reviews.
đ Where is the cabin located?
Weâre in Big Bear, Californiaâon the quieter east end of town. Youâll get the full address and arrival details a few days before check-in.
đ§ Whatâs nearby?
Right near the cabin (within walking distance), youâll find a bar/restaurant, a park, a convenience store, and hiking trails. Big Bear is packed with funâfrom lakeside activities to cozy cafĂ©s and shops. You can get to most places in 5â15 minutes by car. Youâll receive a full travel guide after booking with our favorite spots and local tips.
đ What can I expect when staying in a cabin in the woods?
Our cabin is surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest, so youâll truly be immersed in nature.
That means fresh air, forest viewsâand yes, wildlife! Guests have spotted:
- Chipmunks
- Coyotes
- Wild donkeys
- (Occasionally) bearsârare, but possible in the mountains
In the warmer months, you might also encounter ants, spiders, and flying bugs. We seal up the cabin as best we can and provide bug spray and traps just in case.
We recommend being alert when walking outside, especially at night. Keep food sealed and use the provided trash bins. Itâs all part of the forest cabin experienceâand one of the things that makes your stay so special.
